Spring will be in the air – along with the flotilla of colorful kites – in the skies above the Redondo Beach Pier on March 10. This Southern California tradition, now in its 50th year, offers awards for participants in categories, such as the Highest-Flying Kite and Youngest Kite Flyer, and there will be a hot dog eating contest too. The free event, which runs from 12 pm-5 pm, offers giveaways, a DJ and live music too.
